Anedul Magazine is the latest addition to my magazine publications this year. There are a few differences, though. Today, the first edition of Anedule Magazine is published. I am happy to say that one of my images was selected for the cover. It is also the first time that my work is presented in a foreign magazine, in a language, I don’t speak. It is needless to say that I am pretty excited.
How does a German, living in South Africa receive an assignment for a first publication of a Spanish magazine?
Jose Martinez, the editor of Anedul, is a Twitter friend (@conflagratio). We have been following each other for over a year and also connected with other photographers. Jose is a awesome travel photographer, who also loves black and white photography. We exchanged a good number of tweets over time and grew a common respect for our work as photographers.
A few months ago, he sent me a message via Twitter and asked me if I am interested to work on an assignment for his new magazine. Of course, I was interested. Jose gave me a lot of freedom in which way I would interpret the assignment of photographing rural architecture around Cape Town. The assignment put me on a trip to interesting discoveries about architecture and South African wine. The are a lot of wine farms in the rural area around Cape Town..
